Jason Lavigne is a new Canadian politician who is running to represent the federal electoral district of Parkland Alberta in the House of Commons of Canada in the 45th Canadian federal election.
Jason was born in northern Manitoba and was raised on the prairies around Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and later attended Fort Richmond Collegiate in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Prior to returning to the prairies in 2021 to start building a family homestead near Breton, Alberta, with his wife and two young boys, Jason was a serial entrepreneur with an early passion for building event ticketing engines in the cloud while living and working in the Greater Toronto Area.
In 2003 TicketBreak, an alternative to TicketMaster, was founded in the Toronto area by John Derlis. In 2005 Jason joined TicketBreak to become the lead software developer and later the CTO. In 2009 TicketBreak, along with the founder John and Jason, was acquired by Maple Core. In 2016, with John and Jason as active shareholders, TicketBreak was acquired by TicketFly.
In 2010 Jason created the service Connect2Fans that expanded on the fan experience with artists.
In 2013 while working with the Regional Innovation Centre of Mississauga Jason was named the new Program Director for Silicon Peel, a grassroots start-up incubator in the Peel Region of Ontario.
Following a steep decline of the music industry by 2014, Jason, along with business partner Saadia Muzaffar, created a business called Revvly that focused on providing event ticketing via a Platform as a Service.
Jason, along with Saadia, received the 2014 Brampton Outstanding Business Achievement Award for Innovation & Technology from the City of Brampton for their work on Revvly.
In 2016 Jason returned to school as a mature student and earned an honours degree in law, writing and passing the Law Society of Upper Canada Paralegal exam on his 40th birthday.
In 2017 Jason fulfilled a life long passion and obtained his private pilot’s license from Lachute Aviation.
In 2018 Jason joined the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry where he subsequently received the 2020 Innovation Sustainability and Leadership Award.
In 2020 Jason continued to extend on his education and earned a PMP certification from McGill University.
